Mark D. McVay

Mark D. McVay, 64, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away with his family by his side on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 after a long fight with leaky capulary syndrome.  He was born in Rockford on April 7, 1961 to Henry L. and Jane M. (Wisocki) McVay, Jr.  He graduated from Winnebago High School, Winnebago, IL.    He is now reunited in Heaven with Sheryl, who was the love of his life.  Mark worked at Bill Doran, LLC.  He enjoyed being outdoors, mushroom hunting, fishing and relaxing.  He also loved listening to heavy metal! 

He is survived by his son, Dylan R. McVay; grandchildren, Charlie and Enzo McVay; father, Henry Lee McVay; brother, Kevin McVay; nephew, Kyle McVay; and friends, Jim Sterner, Jr., Tim Rauch and Curt Carlson.  Predeceased by Sheryl; and mother, Jane McVay. 

Special thanks to his best friend, Tim; brother, Kevin; father, Henry Lee; and anyone who has helped.  

A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory, 4311 N. Mulford Rd., Loves Park, IL 61111, from 9:00am to 11:00am.  In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to the UW Health Carbone Cancer Center, www.uwhealth.org/philanthropy.  A luncheon will be held following the visitation at the VFW Post 9759, 2018 Windsor Road, Loves Park, IL 61111.
