Mark Lane Rodseth passed away at Beloit Memorial Hospital on January 6th, 2023, at the age of 65. Mark was born in Chicago, IL on July 2, 1957, to Richard Rodseth (departed) and Anetia Kowalski (departed). In his early years, Mark played all sorts of sports but would ultimately master ice hockey, winning the Chicago Suburbs High School Championship in 1974 for Elk Grove High School. Mark lived and worked in Chicago's northwest suburbs throughout the 80s and 90s, managing a chemical processing and packaging plant before transitioning to a career in business consulting. In the early 00s he moved to the Stateline area, and married his soulmate Gail Daer. He enjoyed playing golf, reading nonfiction, learning American and world history, traveling, and watching his favorite teams (Blackhawks, White Sox, and Bears). He absolutely excelled at being a husband, father, grandfather, and loved making memories with his family.
Mark is survived by: his loving wife Gail Daer; children Scott (Kristen) Rodseth, Steven (Ash) Rodseth, Cassie Daer, Rob (Carol) Thor, Aaron (Erin) Thor; grandchildren Elise Rodseth, Emilia Rodseth, Hattie Rodseth, Elizabeth Thor, Aaron Thor Jr., Eva Thor, Mia Thor, Abigail Daer, Emiliana Thor, and Charlie Thor; stepmother Lillian Rodseth; sisters Olivia Gillespie, Barbara Barnhouse, Jeanne Kellner, and Linda Abrams; and brothers Curt Kowalski and Guy John Kowalski. Mark is predeceased by: his father, Richard Rodseth; mother, Anetia Kowalski, stepfather Guy Kowalski, and brother Kristian Rodseth.
A memorial visitation (11 AM) and service of remembrance (12 PM) will be held at the Honquest Funeral Home in Roscoe, IL on Saturday, January 14th, 2023. That same day, a Celebration of Life (1 PM) will be held at the American Legion in Rockton, IL. Mark's cremated remains will be laid to rest at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Rockford, IL in the Summer of 2023.
