Marie E. Jacobson

Marie Elena (Williams) Jacobson was born in Rockford, IL on June 13, 1942 and passed away on October 12, 2024 at the age of 82. She lived most of her life in Rockford and Loves Park.

Marie worked at a nursing home as an Activity Director and then moved on to Brightside Adult Daycare where she had the ability to communicate and bring out the best in people who were quiet and reserved. For over 60 years Marie was also involved with Boy Scouting where she served as a Den Mother and committee member for both Cub Scout Pack 379 and Boy Scout Troop 28 and was a proud mother of two Eagle Scouts. During her time in scouting, she also served on the district committee and for over 50 years she served on the registration staff for the US Grant Pilgrimage in Galena, IL which she did until the age of 81. Marie was awarded the Silver Beaver for providing exceptional service to the local council. She was also awarded The Saint George Emblem. This award was presented to her by the Catholic church for her significant and outstanding contributions to the spiritual development of Catholic youth in scouting and leadership in promoting scouting for all youth.

Marie is survived by her son, Donnie (Alice) Hasting; brother, Ron (Doris) Williams; four grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Richard Jacobson and Jerry Hasting; son, Tommy (Lisa) Hasting; mother, Antonia (Leon) Williams; father, Balis Williams; and brother, Jerry Williams.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at River Bluff Nursing Home and Sanctuary Hospice their kindness and care that Marie received the last months of her life. We would also like to thank Marie’s close friend, Mike Berger, for kindness and companionship in the last years of her life.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00am on Thursday, October 17, 2024, in St. Anthony Catholic Church, 1010 Ferguson St., Rockford, IL 61102. Visitation will be from 10:00am to time of the Mass. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Winnebago, IL.
