Margaret Tracy Obituary

Margaret Young Tracy, 79, of Roscoe, passed away Monday, January 6, 2020. She was born on July 20, 1940 in Wallyford, Scotland to Peter and Margaret (Tait) Young. Meg married Stephen Tracy August 11, 1962 in Champaign Urbana. Megs favorite thing in life was family and cherished all the time she spent with them... special time at the parks, walks and picnics in the forest preserve, etc. She loved the special occasions like Thanksgiving when the home was practically bustling with family activity. Meg also enjoyed playing with the family dogs. She always seemed to have at least three. In addition to her family, Meg had a passion for small babies and little children. Upon her seeing them we would often hear "see the little baby!" The parents and the cute baby would know they were singled out and generally would beam at her attention as would we at the scene. Meg was a social worker for 15 years, specializing in children and family services. Meg also had a passion for gardening and would spend hours moving and arranging flowers. She tried her best to hand weed lawn weeds rather than using damaging pesticides. There was a never ending battle that she did not really mind although she never won. Meg was a part of a family which loved athletics, including running. A monumental achievement was to meet her 26.2 marathon goal of four hours. She completed the marathon in 3:59:59. Her husband, Stephen, is proud to have helped coach her in this achievement.

Survivors include her husband, Stephen C. Tracy; children, Scott (Von) Tracy, Stephen D. Tracy, Ken Tracy and Caroline (Eric) Rukin; grandchildren, Colin, Dylan, Holly, Reagan, Ella, Erin, Morgan, Abraham, Jesse, Jubilee, Isaac, Sam and Naomi; brother, Jim Young; sister, Nan Cornish. Predeceased by her parents and sisters, Helen and Betty.
