Lloyd Fry, Jr. Obituary

Lloyd E. Fry, Jr. passed away peacefully on June 29, 2024. He was born February 18, 1928 to Lloyd and Jeannette (Mulford) Fry.

His religious journey began with baptism at Court Street Methodist Church, confirmation at Redeemer Lutheran, where he was an active member until his death.  He attended Rockford Schools, graduating from West High School in 1946. Upon graduation he enlisted in the Marines and served two years. A gifted athlete, he excelled in football, track, swimming and even boxed while in the Marines. Lloyd was a true outdoorsman and shared his love of nature with many.  A versatile provider, his working career was varied and included farming, carpentry, playing semi pro football for the Tucson Cowboys, uranium mining in Wyoming, building swimming pools, auctioneer and managing commercial properties. Lloyd could do just about anything and had a life-long curiosity about how things worked. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge and skill and was always willing to help others.

Lloyd married Leona Bohn on August 27, 1949. Their love for each other was a true inspiration to many. They were married for nearly 73 years until her passing in 2022. Their union was blessed with four children Steven, Myron, Kevin and Marnell.

He is survived by his three sons, Steve (Deb), Myron (Linda) and Kevin (Nancy); grandchildren, Lindsey Fry, Rebecca Fry Crawford (Tim), Daniel Fry (Amanda), Whitney Fry (Dan Delaney), Carson Fry (Natalia Antas), Madysen Fry, Jacob Fry, Collin Eggen; eleven great-grandchildren round out the family along with many loved nieces and nephews. Lloyd was predeceased by his wife, Leona; daughter, Marnell; granddaughter, Amy Fry; his parents; and sisters, Sally Barnard, Eileen Johnson, and Joan Becknell.

As the family grieves the loss of this great man, we rejoice that he is now with his Lord and Savior and the love of his life, Leona, and many other family members and friends. He will be missed.

A Celebration of Life will be at 11:00am to 2:00pm on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Seward Congregational Church, 3029 S. Pecatonica Rd., Seward, IL 61077. The combined ashes of Lloyd and Leona will be buried at Middle Creek Cemetery following the Celebration.
