Linda L. Smith

Linda L. Smith (Lindquist), 74, of Machesney Park, IL, passed peacefully surrounded by her closest family on August 13, 2023. Linda was born on January 16th, 1949, in Rockford, IL to Emery and Florence (Swenson) Lindquist. Linda married Dallas Smith on January 31st, 1970, who she remained in love with for the rest of her days. 

Linda graduated from Auburn High School. She  devoted her life to working in the profession of helping others. She retired in 2015 from the Loves Park Water Department. Linda had an absolute heart of gold and left an impression on everyone she met. She was an outgoing soul and was always willing to go on adventures and try something new. If you needed to find her, she was usually in the recliner with her dogs feeding them treats. She enjoyed gardening, jewelry/craft shows, line dancing, Bunco nights and having a good cocktail. Linda was an avid member of the LINDA’s club for 33 years. She looked forward to her yearly vacations and seeing all of the LINDA’s she formed friendships with. 

Linda is survived by her husband of 53 years, Dallas Smith; daughters, Corrina Smith and Carol Rebelak; grandchildren, Ashley (Nicholas) Potter, Dallas (Carla) Smith, Taylor (Annie) Smith and Violet Benoit; great -grandchildren, Cameron, Amelia and Norah; bonus - grandchildren, Abby Hammond and Kayla (Brandon) Sibounheuang; bonus great-grandchildren, Malakai, Izaiah, Malik and Alexemi; mother - in - law, Maggie Smith; brothers, Ike, Steve and Tommy Smith; sisters, Rhonda and Pam Smith; many amazing cousins, nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents, Emery and Florence Lindquist; mother - in - law, Violet Smith; father - in - law, Tom Smith; sister - in - law, Mary Smith; son, Shane Smith. 

A visitation for Linda will be held Friday, August 25, 2023, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory, Mulford - Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Rd. Loves Park, IL 61111. Funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM following the visitation. Burial will take place immediately following the service at Willwood Burial Park.
