Linda Akins, 84, went to join her heavenly father on November, 5, 2023.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jack; mother, Nellie; brothers, Howard and Ralph; sisters, Mona, Mollie, and Barbara; son-in-law, Richard; and ex-husband Patrick.
She was born in Rockford, IL on October 9, 1939 at a time where the country was just coming out of the Great Depression. Linda lived a very long and exciting life full of adventure and experiences.
From the time she was 15 until years later in life, she had a wide variety of jobs ranging from bartender to head waitress for her dear friend, Dolly. She once worked on a military base decorating cakes for our service men and women. She has driven flag cars and even owned her own trucking company with her then husband.
A lifelong lover of animals, she was always feeding strays along with her own pets. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, and especially cooking. There was never a time she wasn't trying a new recipe and her house always smelled of baked goods including bread.
Most importantly, her favorite role was that of mother to Patty and Rita and grandmother to Amber and Erik whom she leaves behind along with other numerous friends and family. Her presence in their lives will forever be cherished and she will be greatly missed.
Per her wishes, there will be no service or visitation; however, she has requested her ashes be spread at a location of her own choosing. The family instead requests that you donate to your local animal shelter in her name and always keep a light shining in your window.
