Lenita R. Wood

Lenita Rae (Wince) Wood, 80, of Loves Park, IL went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 2, 2025 at 7:25 pm. She was born January 19, 1945 to Walter and Vivian Pauline (Graham) Wince. Lenita married Clifton C. Wood on September 8, 1966. They were married for nearly 50 years until his homegoing.  She and Clifton fully enjoyed the simple things in life—visiting antique shops, local diners, morning dates at McDonalds, and taking trips to the Dells together.

She was a member of North Love Baptist Church, Rockford, IL, for the past 25 years.  She was a blessing to so many and loved attending her Jolly 60’s group at church.  One of her greatest joys in life were her grandkids, whom she intentionally loved on through each chapter in their lives. She loved to cheer them on at recitals, tournaments for school, and ball games. Simply, she loved BIG.  She leaves an unfailing emptiness, yet hope because of Jesus. 

Surviving family includes daughter, Teresa (David) Johnson; grandchildren, Nicole (Steven) McIlroy, Katelynn (David) Huffman, Emily (Kaleb) McDaniel and Abigail Johnson; great-grandchildren, Emma Faith, Todd, Troy and Theodore Clark McIlroy, Amanda, Mikayla, and Savannah Huffman; and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents; one brother; and four sisters.  Also her husband; son, Allen; and her great-granddaughter, Jade Huffman.
