Lawrence “Larry” Carl Rinaldo, 84, of Roscoe passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, August 26, 2021. Larry was born January 12, 1937 in Rockford, IL, the son of Aleck and Rose Rinaldo. Larry was predeceased by his loving wife of 62 years, Marion Rinaldo in 2018. He was employed by Chrysler Corp for 30 years when he retired in 1995. He served his country in the AirForce from 1954 to 1959.
Survivors include sons, Larry (Chris) Rinaldo Jr., Aleck (Carrie) Rinaldo; daughter, Lori Rinaldo; and sister, Maryanne (Bruce) Peterson. He is predeceased by son, Steven Jon Rinaldo and brother, Joseph Rinaldo. He is affectionately known as “Papa” by his grandchildren, Amanda Hartman, Stephanie (Dave) Nethery, Anna Rinaldo, Heather (Josh) Kimes, Zack Steurer, Christina Rinaldo and Aleck Rinaldo. As well as great grandchildren, Joshua Kimes, Kaylyn Kimes, Joseph Rinaldo, Noah Hartman, Lucy Nethery, Mary Nethery, Gwen Nethery. He is also survived by his first love, Virginia Erickson, whom he reconnected with and shared the “very special” last year of his life. He was blessed with lifelong BEST friends Tom Capone and Bob Hatfield. In his younger days he loved to bowl, golf and parachute jump. “Papa” was an amazing man who was kind to all that knew him. He was funny and loving and always said his favorite thing in life was his family.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory, Roscoe Chapel, 11342 Main Street, Roscoe. Celebration of Life will be held the following day, Wednesday, September 8, 2021 from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm in the funeral home.
