Larry Schreck Obituary

Larry Joseph Schreck of Loves Park, IL, passed away with family by his side on June 1, 2026.  He was born July 10, 1943, to Oscar and Glenola (Hayes) Schreck.

He was an avid White Sox fan and enjoyed going to games with the children. He also enjoyed taking trips to Las Vegas. He was a member of the Moose Club.

After graduating high school in Shannon, IL, Larry served in the Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1968. He retired from Sundstrand in 2007 after spending most of his career there.

He is survived by his children, Brian Schreck, Michael Schreck, Jeffery (Shelly) Schreck, and Heather (Michael) Thorne. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Nathan (Amanda Wilder) Schreck, Brittany (Ben) Pausteck, Amber (Brandon) Outzen, Breanna (David) McKee, Brenna (Justin Lindsay, fiancé) Schreck, Zachary (Jenessa Riley, fiancé) Thorne, and Jeffery Schreck Jr., along with 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Dave (Dianna) Schreck; sister, June (Bill Schmelzer) Schreck; and brother-in-law, Jan Nicol.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Eleanore Kehl, Dorthy Kast, and Marge Nicol; and one great-grandchild.

A visitation with military honors for Larry will take place on Sunday, June 7, 2026, from 2:00 to 3:00 pm at Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory-Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Road, Loves Park, IL, 61111.
