Kitty Davis Obituary

Kitty A. Davis, 88, of Rockford, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 26, 2026, after a courageous journey with Alzheimer’s disease. Surrounded by the love of her family, she peacefully stepped into her heavenly home.

Kitty was born on February 6, 1938, in Leachville, Arkansas, to Arthur Lee Carter and Edith Bell Mitts. She was a proud member of the West High School graduating class of 1956.

On April 14, 1957, she married the love of her life, Kenneth L. Davis, and together they shared 56 wonderful years of marriage built on love, faith, and devotion to family.

Kitty was a devoted homemaker and a gifted entrepreneur who owned and operated several businesses throughout her life. She was especially known for her success as the owner of the One Hour Photo shops located in Colonial Village and North Town Malls in Rockford.

More than anything, Kitty loved people. Her greatest joy was sharing the love and message of Jesus Christ with everyone she met. She also had a deep passion for art and creativity, finding joy in drawing and painting. Her beautiful artwork remains treasured by her family, displayed with pride in the homes of those she loved most.

Above all, Kitty’s heart belonged to her family. She was a loving mother to her two children, a cherished grandmother to eight grandchildren, and a proud great-grandmother to twenty great-grandchildren, with two more precious little ones soon to arrive. Her love, warmth, and unwavering faith will continue to live on through each of them.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the many caregivers, nurses, and doctors who compassionately cared for Kitty throughout this season of life. Your kindness, dedication, and support have been a tremendous blessing to both Kitty and her family.

She is survived by her children, Kenneth (Jody) Davis and Kathy (Philip) Flinn; grandchildren, Noah (Kristen) Goellner, Nick (Brittany) Goellner, Alex (Kelsey) Goellner, Hannah (Joe) Roberts, Hayley Davis, Dakota Rice, Montana (Robert) Ewing, Nevada Rice; great-grandchildren, Emma Rice, Cole Goellner, Wyatt Davis, Paislee Newhouse, Audrey Goellner, Elle Goellner, Ella Roberts, Ariees Sandlin, Brynlee DeRose, Aurora Rice, Will Goellner, Eli Roberts, Johnah Sandlin, Johnathan Sandlin, Everleigh O'Malley, James Goellner, Joshua Ewing, Lucas Goellner, Jack Goellner, and Jude Goellner.

Predeceased by her husband, Kenneth L. Davis Sr.; parents, Arthur and Edith Bell Carter; brother, Clayton Carter; sisters, Emily Perry, Lou Carter, and Donna Fishbach.

To all the many family and friends who have entered and enhanced her life, thank you.
