Kimberly K. Hatfield, 62, of South Beloit, Illinois, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026. She was born on June 1, 1963, in Rockford, Illinois, to Jim and Barbara Meyers.
Kimberly married the love of her life, Shane Hatfield, on September 8, 1990, in Belvidere, Illinois, beginning a life together filled with love, laughter, and shared memories. She was a dedicated student, graduating from the University of Illinois–Urbana-Champaign in 1985 and later earning her degree from Rockford College in 2009.
Kimberly built a meaningful career, first working as a computer programmer for Ingersoll and Beloit Corporation before following her passion for education. During her time there, she made a lasting impact on her students, not only in the classroom but also as a Poms coach and an advisor for Quiz Bowl and Math Team. Her competitive spirit and strong work ethic were evident throughout her life, from graduating third in her high school class to earning the title of state champion in baton twirling.
Outside of her career, Kimberly found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved playing pickleball, working on puzzles, traveling, and spending time playing card games with family. A devoted Chicago Bears fan and lover of rock and roll music, she brought energy and enthusiasm wherever she went. Kimberly was known for her sharp sense of humor and her contagious laugh, which will be remembered by all who knew her.
She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by her family, friends, students, and all whose lives she touched.
