Kent Eugene Herbig

Kent Eugene Herbig, 61, of Rockford passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2020. Born November 16, 1958 in Oregon, the son of Ellsworth and Donna (Bolthouse) Herbig. A veteran of the US Navy. Married Patricia Cantu on May 27, 2007 in Las Vegas, NV. Employed for 34 years by the Byron Nuclear Plant. A member of the Navy Club and the Eagles Club. Kent enjoyed fishing, computer games, crafting, gardening and tinkering on machines.

Survivors include wife, Patricia Herbig of Rockford; children, Dalton Herbig of Rockford, Dillon Herbig of Brooklyn, NY, Ruben Renteria of Rockford, Krystal (Jamaine Gray) Guerrero of Rockford, David Hafley, Jr., of Rockford; grandchildren, Jayden Gray, Brenden Gray, Xavier Renteria, Tyler Renteria; mother, Donna Herbig; brothers, Dennis (Michelle) Herbig, Kevin (Teresa) Herbig, Randy (Bob) Herbig; sisters-in-law, Marie (Nacho) Castillo, Rosie (Jeff) Peterson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by father; and grandparents.

Walk-through visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2020 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory – Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Road, Loves Park. Private family service is to be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family to be used in Kent’s name at a later date.
