Kathleen Ann James

Kathleen Ann James, 70, of Machesney Park passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2020. Born March 16, 1950 in Rockford to Douglas and Della (Kirkpatrick) Pennington. Married 49 years and 11 months to Richard James after being set up on a blind date; they only knew each other 3 days before getting engaged. Employed by Illinois Bell for 28 years. A member of St. Bridget Catholic Church, Loves Park. Kathleen was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. She loved her beagles, reading, the Beatles especially Paul McCartney, watching soap operas, and she always enjoyed a fountain coke. She also enjoyed springtime and all the beautiful flowers that came with it especially tulips and lilacs.

Survivors include husband, Richard James; daughter, Jennifer James; dog, Addison Ivy; siblings, Susan (Raymond) Saathoff, Timothy (Lori) Pennington, Jamie (Karla) Pennington; brother-in-law, Ron Manno; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents; dogs, Dusty, Perry, Sammy, Wrigley, Cubby Bear; and sister-in-law, Shirley Manno. A special thank you to Heartland Hospice.

Private family memorial mass will be held at St. Bridget Catholic Church. A public celebration of life will be held once the COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the family.
