Karen S. Morris

February 8, 1961 ~ November 13, 2021 (age 60)

Karen Sue Morris, 60, passed away at OSF St. Anthony Hospital on Saturday, November 13, 2021 after a long illness. Karen was born in Rockford, IL on February 8, 1961. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1979. She continued on to Ippolito’s School of Cosmetology and then into Instructor training. She was an instructor at IBA Alberto’s for many years before the closing of the Rockford location, at which time she changed careers and worked in customer service for Pioneer Life Ins. Co., Benchmark Ins. Co and United Health Care.
Karen enjoyed reading, cooking, baking, playing board games, cards, darts and anything that included being with friends and family. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles since 2005. Karen had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. She had many friends and was loved by all.
Karen is survived by her sister, Linda Lynch (Kenny); brother, Jeff Morris (Kathy); daughter by heart, Katie Arensdorf (Justen); grandchildren by heart, Avery, Kingsten, Konrad and Adalie; nieces, Kim, Melenie, Hope and Amy; nephews, Russell, Michael, Troy, David and Hayden; brother-in-law, Ricky Dobbs; and sister-in-law, Diane Morris. She is predeceased by her father, David V. Morris; mother, Helen Morris; brothers, Larry and Bobby Morris; sister, Paula Dobbs; and son by heart, Nickolas Black.
As they say, “It takes a Village” and there are so many that had a part in helping Karen through her long illness. In addition to her brother Jeff; sister-in-law, Kathy; and sister, Linda, a special thanks to Melenie Mayer (Dobbs) and Kim and Mike Powder, who held Karen’s hand in the hospital in the beginning of Karen’s downward spiraling health. Kenny Lynch who was always there with Karen through all of her surgeries and many hospital stays, representing family who could not be there and a huge help to her around the house. Ricky Dobbs who was a never-fail voice of reason to Karen when she would not listen or take advice from anyone else and was also a blessing with help around her house. And finally, a special mention to her long-time friend, Lori Smith, who was always there for Karen through thick and thin. The family would also like to give a special thanks to Elvenice (Eve), who was a blessing to the family and to Karen as her most recent caregiver.
Funeral service will be at 1:00pm on Friday, November 19, 2021 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory-Mulford Chapel, 4311 N.
