It is with heavy hearts and much love that we mourn the passing of Karen J. James, who died peacefully on Sunday, October 12th, at the age of 76.
Born on April 11, 1949, to Frank and Isabelle Kellner, Karen was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed keeping a well-stocked indoor garden, complete with beautiful exotic flowers, and spending days shopping with her lifelong best friend, Beverly Bode, for a hand-decorated perfume bottle or a new fairy for her collection. A retiree of the postal service, her love of community left a lasting impact on everyone she met, and she had an extra special place in her heart for animals big and small.
Karen is survived by her children, Michael Schaefer and Kimberly (Michael) Gersch, her two grandchildren, Chantal Gersch and Morgan Gersch; and her great-grandson, Braxton Gersch-Brainer, who will continue to cherish her memory; along with her extended family and close friends. She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Kirby; and her daughter, Corinne.
A celebration of Karen’s life will occur in the Spring, with details still to come. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your local animal shelter in her name or Feed My Starving Children, an organization that meant the world to her.
Forever missed and always remembered, Karen will be held dear in the hearts of all she touched.
