June Legge Obituary

June Irene Legge, 89, of Rockford died August 6, 2018 at home. She was born May 18, 1929 in Durand, daughter of Owen and Grace (Winn) Scheidegger. June graduated from Rockford West High School in 1947. She married Richard Mountford Legge on April 9, 1949. June retired from Rockford Memorial Hospital in 1994 after 26 years of faithfully working the switchboard. She loved to knit, donating hundreds of hat and booty sets for the newborns at Swedish American Hospital where she also volunteered for over 20 years. June was an avid bowler, enjoyed the sport well into her 80s and she found great joy in playing the card game Rook with family and friends.

Survived by her children, Paula (Bob) Goff of Sullivan, IN, Paul (Anna) Legge, Debbie (Brian) Venstrom of Rockford, Jon (Miriam) Legge of Belvidere; grandchildren, Laura (Michael) Gillespie, Kenneth Goff, Kristina and Jonathan Legge, Lisa (Nick) Licursi, Luke (Laura) Venstrom, Andy (Paige) Venstrom, Owen Legge; great grandchildren, Jack and Katherine Gillespie, Kinsley Licursi, Samuel, Reid, and Claire Venstrom, Alaina Venstrom; brothers, George, Donald, Roger Scheidegger; along with innumerable nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents; her husband on October 5, 2013; brothers, Harley, Ethan, Paul, Glenn, James, Joseph, Edward; sisters, Edna, Muriel Scheidegger, Marian Hummer, Donna Kersten, and Nita Weir.

Private family services are planned. Memorials may be directed to Northern Illinois Hospice Association.
