Joseph L. Tanaglia, 93, of Rockford, IL, passed away on May 20, 2023. He was born July 16, 1929, in Rockford to Olinto and Teresa Tanaglia. A graduate of Rockford West High School, he served in the Illinois National Guard. He married Joan Elaine Hering in 1950. He was employed in the machine tool industry for 40 years, including management at Roper Whitney and W. A. Whitney. He was an active member of Ducks Unlimited and Pheasants Forever, and was a founding member of the Plug & Pellet Sportsman’s Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing (especially summer trips to Canada), trap shooting, and working his dogs.
Survivors include his children, David (Barbara), Mark (Sandy) and Kevin (Cindy); grandchildren, Sara (Daniel) Jones, Joe (Kasia Edwards), Stina (Joshua Jacobs), Jessica (Brandon McDonnell), Anna (Michael Nora), Jordan (Jessica Gerig) and Janelle (Matt Rogers); and great grandchildren, Lucas Davies, Nick and Ryan Tanaglia, Kevin and Sully McDonnell), Asher and Ophelia Jacobs, and Elijah Tanaglia. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Joan; and his brother and sister-in-law, Primo and Rose Tanaglia.
The family will hold a private remembrance at a later date.
