Joseph "Joe" L. Kramlik, 84, of Machesney Park, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 in Machesney Park, IL. He was born on March 6, 1936 in Budapest, Hungary, to Ferenc and Katalin Kramlik. At the age of 20, Joe escaped from Hungary due to the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. He ended up in a refugee camp in Austria where he was eventually transferred to England. In 1974, Ingersoll Milling Machine moved Joe and his two sons to the United States where he became a US citizen. He retired from Ingersoll after 30 years.
Joe was predeceased by his parents; four sisters and one brother.
He is survived by his sons, Frank and Tibor Kramlik; his grandchildren Ryan and Renee Kramlik; his great-grandchildren, Leilani and Vidal “Jozsika”; and Denise (Phil) Nelson, who Joe thought of as his daughter-in-law; he loved his family so dearly.
The family would like to thank Fred and Barbara Wicks, who remained good friends with Joe and kept in touch with him until his passing. You meant the world to him!
Special thanks to Joe’s niece, Eve Pollon, who kept Joe in touch with his European family among so many other acts of kindness. He loved you so much!
A very special thanks to his grandchildren Ryan and Renee, who selflessly cared for Joe, allowing him to live his final days at home surrounded by his loving family.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, August 10, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in Honquest Family Funeral Homes with Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Rd., Loves Park, Illinois 61111. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family.
