Joseph Faulkner Obituary

Joseph C. Faulkner, 76, passed away on April 6, 2025 after a short illness. Born on October 7,1948, in Mauston, Wisconsin, he was the beloved son of Albert and Pauline Faulkner. Joe was one of six siblings.  Joe married the love of his life, Barbara Vlasnik, on November 26, 1969, in Madison, Wisconsin. Together, they built a beautiful family, including their daughters, Jennifer (Mike) Lawyer and Heather (Aaron) Cousins. He was a cherished grandfather to Joshua, Quinn, Jack, and Cooper Lawyer, and Madison and Hannah Cousins. A bonus daughter, Maria Muntner, lived with our family for the 1988-89 school year. Joe cherished his trips to Vienna to visit.

A proud veteran, Joe honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy from September 1968 through September 1972. He began his Naval journey with basic training in San Diego and served on a destroyer escort in Vietnam. Upon his return, he attended Air Conditioning and Refrigeration school at Great Lakes, where he laid the foundation for his future career. He was honorably discharged after completing his naval service in Portsmouth, Virginia, on a subtender.

After returning to Illinois, Joe embarked on his professional career at Miller Engineering. He was an active and dedicated member, as well as a teacher, in the Local 23 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish his own mechanical contracting business, S.C.F., Inc., on May 1, 1986. The company continues to serve residential clients across Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin through longtime employee, Gregg Lynch.

Joe was known for his generous spirit and his unwavering willingness to help others, especially when it involved a home project. His kindness and expertise touched many lives. He loved watching his grandchildren thrive in their talents - whether it be cooking, wrestling, swimming, academics, or playing an instrument in the band. In his free time, Joe would watch old westerns on Grit.

A memorial gathering to celebrate Joe's life will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory-Roscoe Chapel, 11342 Main Street, Roscoe, IL 61073.
