Jonathan R. Wagaman, 58, of Stockton, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, following a short illness.
Jonathan was born on August 8, 1967, in Rockford, Illinois, to George H. Wagaman and Linda K. (Hall) Wagaman. He grew up in Rockford and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1985.
Following graduation, Jonathan built a successful career in retail and restaurant management. Over the years, he held leadership positions with several well-known companies, including Dick’s Sporting Goods, Lechters, Pizza Inn, and Krispy Kreme. He was known for his strong work ethic, dedication to his teams, and ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Most recently, Jonathan devoted his time to ministry work, where he found redemption in serving others and sharing his faith.
Jonathan was a fun-loving brother who spent his younger years creating cherished memories with Matt and Mike. He was a devoted son, and his family finds solace knowing he is now reunited with his mother. Jon's presence will be deeply missed at family gatherings. His kindness, sense of humor, and caring nature were felt by those closest to him.
He is survived by his father, George H. Wagaman; his children, Jonathan (Holly) R. Wagaman II, Nicole Wagaman, and William Wagaman; his grandson, Cooper Wagaman; his brothers, Matt (Tracy) Wagaman and Mike (Heather) Wagaman; and his nephews, Owen Wagaman, Ander Wagaman, Harris Wagaman, and Cameron Wagaman. Jonathan was preceded in death by his mother, Linda K. Wagaman.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory – Roscoe Chapel, 11342 Main Street, Roscoe, Illinois 61073. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m., with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Machesney Park, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family.
