Johnnie “John” Lingelbach, 86, of Rockford, IL passed away of Saturday, September 4, 2021 at home. John was born on March 12, 1935 to Henry and Myrtle (Burks) Lingelbach in Haleyville, AL. Married Hazel Johnson on August 15, 1964 in Rockford, IL.
John worked at Elco Industries (Textron) until he retired at the age of 65. He loved his garden and fruit trees. John loved to go camping and fishing. He enjoyed spending time on McFarland Lake where he camped in a tent until he had a cabin built to stay in. He loved to imitate birds and watch and listen to wildlife. John loved to playing his guitar, harmonica and singing. He also loved watching wrestling and westerns.
John leaves behind his wife Hazel; children, Diane (David) Korsky, Sharon (Joe) McIntire, Christina (Mark) Luberts; grandchildren, Tom, Tim, Tanya, Brandon, Tirzah, Christy, Jon and Mike. Family would like to give a special thank you to Christy, whose bond with her grandfather has always been special, especially during his last few years of life. Brother, Will (Acklin) Lingelbach; many great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. John is predeceased by his parents; sisters, Annabelle, Ella; brothers, James Lewis, William Elisha, Richard, James Luther and Robert.
Celebration of life will be held from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Friday, September 17, 2021 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory – Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Road, Loves Park.
