John "Jack" C. Slade, Jr.

John “Jack” C. Slade, Jr., 93, of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025, and now rests in the hands of the Lord. Born in Dubuque, IA, Jack made Rockford his home for 75 years. He was a proud graduate of St. Thomas High School in Rockford.

In 1956, Jack married the love of his life, Kathleen Greco, and together they shared 64 years of love, laughter, and partnership.

Jack dedicated over 45 years to his work at Cellusuede Products, where he became a respected member of the team. Outside of his career, he had a wide range of interests. Jack was an avid fisherman, golfer, and photographer. He loved music and hiking, and cherished time spent in nature. Above all, his greatest joy was being with his family and friends, where his laughter and warmth were always felt.

Jack will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of kindness, love, and dedication will continue to inspire those who loved him.

John is survived by his children, James (Kim) Slade and Kimberly Slade-Loy; grandchildren, Courtney (Daniel), Kevin (Mitch), Matthew, Lauren (Anthony), Kirstyn (Peyton), Rebecca and Keelee (Raistlen); 8 great-grandchildren; siblings, Sandra (Jack) Wesoky and Joseph P. (Lisa) Greco. Predeceased by his parents and his wife, Kathleen (Greco) Slade; son, Timothy (Noreen) Slade; siblings, Mary Jo (Frank) Yastrab, Mark Slade, Diane (Ralph) Russo, Joseph P. Greco; son-in-law, Ronald Loy.

A funeral Mass will be held for John on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Ave, Loves Park, IL 61111, at 11:00 AM, with a visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Entombment will immediately follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
