John P. Meister

John “Jack” P. Meister, 82 of Rockford, IL, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at Swedish American Hospital, Rockford, IL.  He was born on the 31st  of October, 1940 in Beloit, WI, the son of Pete and Kathleen “Mickey” Byrnes Meister. He married JoAnne K. Zeski, on May 20, 1967, and they celebrated 55 years of marriage.  He enjoyed watching the Packers, Cubs, and golf. He especially enjoyed watching his  sons and grandchildren playing their sports. His favorite pastime was enjoying food and drinks with his friends and family.  Jack was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from Merwin Stoltz Company in 2011. He was a member of Saint Bernadette’s Catholic Church, as well as a graduate of Beloit Catholic High School.

Jack was predeceased by his parents; his brother, James; and his son, Anthony.  Survivors include his two sons, Joseph (Marjorie) Meister of Williamsburg, VA, and Peter John (Candice) Meister of South Beloit, IL; three grandchildren, Victoria, Ian, and Cameron; his sisters, Barb (Gerald) Twentyman of San Francisco, CA, Bonnie (Gary) Paul of Green Bay, WI, and Patty (Michael) Strain of Beloit, Wl; many nieces; nephews; great-nieces; great-nephews; and many friends.  

We want to give a special thanks to all the medical professionals at St. Anthony/OSF and Swedish American Hospital.

Visitation will be at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, 2023, with a prayer service led by Father Ricardo Hernandez to follow at 6:00 p.m. in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory-Mulford Chapel, 4311 North Mulford Road, Loves Park, IL 61111.
