John A. Meadows

John Anthony Meadows, 82, was baptized in the hope of Christ’s Resurrection on January 4, 2022.

The loving father of Elisa (Brad) Sargent and Holly (Eric) Harris; treasured grandpa of Mason and Flynne Sargent; loving brother of Marguerite (Denny) Smith, Mary (Tom) Keinz, and the late Jim Meadows; survived by several nieces and nephews and dear friend and companion of Marsha Carlson.  John was also preceded in death by his parents, John and Ida (nee Cascio) Meadows.

John lived his entire life in Rockford; where he dedicated 49 years as a sponsor in AA, helping many people maintain their sobriety as he did.  He retired from TRACE Business and Office Equipment with over 50 years of service.  John honorably served his country as a member of the United States Air Force from 1957-1962.  His hobbies included building and flying RC planes, going to his grandchildren’s sporting events, and being an avid reader.  John never met a stranger and made friends where ever he went.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to the dedicated employees at Comfort Keepers, St. Ann’s Place, and Swedish-American Hospital for the loving caregiving to John over the last few years.

Graveside services will be at a later date.
