John S. Henson, Sr.

On Friday, May 5, 2023, the Henson family said goodbye to beloved husband and father John S. Henson, Sr. (J.S.) at the age of 78.  John is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mildred; daughter Ann (Dennis) Webb; son, John (Krista) Henson; and grandchildren, Damien and Baylie.

John was a Christian and his greatest passion was working in the service of the Lord. He was an ordained deacon through the General Baptist Association for more than 35 years. He enjoyed driving the church bus, volunteering at Camp Joy, and attending church-related functions. John also enjoyed Nascar races; bluegrass, gospel, and country music; collecting guns; and travel. John worked for and retired from Chrysler Corporation after 30 years of employment. He was a proud union member and truly loved being an American.  John was a patient, kind, honest, and generous man. He was a source of strength and the foundation of the Henson family. 

Funeral service will be at 4:00pm with a visitation from 2:00pm until the time of service on Saturday, May 20, 2023 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory-Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Road, Loves Park, IL 61111.  Flowers, donations, and condolences may be offered at the funeral home.

The Henson family would like to thank everyone for their heartfelt condolences, thoughts, visits, calls, and prayers following John’s passing. The kind expressions of sympathy are very much appreciated and of great comfort to the family. We will each miss him and his easy smile for the rest of our lives.
