Jodi Slick Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jodi Slick, who left us on May 10, 2025 at the age of 59, after a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer.  Born in Clinton, IA to Jack and Deloris Kampmeier on Sept. 4, 1965, and raised in Mt. Carroll, she devoted her life to family, faith, nursing, and community. As a young girl, she was a babysitter, played the flute, worked as a lifeguard, and even had a newspaper delivery route. She loved sharing stories of her high school sweetheart, John.

She attended Moline Public Hospital for nursing school in Moline, IL and graduated in 1986. She moved to Rockford, IL with her job as a nurse with Rockford Memorial Hospital (now known as Mercy/Javon Bea). She liked to say John followed her, and the rest was history. She served her community as a nurse for 38 years in various departments, with the longest and most recent stretch in cardiac services.

John and Jodi were married in September 1988 on her birthday and began their 36 happy years together. They had two daughters - Shannon and Rachel. The girls kept them busy cheering in the crowds at every piano recital and sporting event, helping them relocate to new states, and becoming the best grandparents to Easton and Beckett.

Jodi was known for her genuine and giving personality. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church both in Mt. Carroll and in Roscoe, IL, singing in the choir and volunteering her time.  She loved being with people and enjoying time with her friends and family. You could find her rooting for the Cubs, tending to her flowers, organizing family gatherings and outings with friends, and baking all sorts of goodies. You couldn’t help but feel happy when you were around her infectious smile.

She was the cherished wife of John Slick; mother of Shannon (Travis) Greenlee and Rachel (Hani Jazayrli) Slick; and a loving grandma to Easton and Beckett Greenlee. She is also survived by her mother, Deloris Kampmeier; mother-in-law, Susie Meador; brothers, Todd (Anne) Kampmeier and Brian (Amanda) Kampmeier; and 15 nieces and nephews.

She will be remembered for the deep love and kindness she shared with all who knew her.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Roscoe United Methodist Church, 10816 Main Street, Roscoe, IL 61073, from 9:00am to 11:30am. Service to follow at 11:30am. We invite those who loved her to attend and celebrate her beautifully lived life.
