Jeanne M. Steinmetz

Jeanne M Steinmetz passed away peacefully on November 10, 2024, at the age of 86. Born in Aurora, Illinois the second child of Dazo and Vera Fancsali, Jeanne and family later moved to Janesville, Wisconsin where she graduated from Janesville High School in 1956. She married Orvin S. Steinmetz on June 27th, 1959 in Janesville, Wisconsin. The couple moved around the country a bit as Orv built his career, spending time in Wisconsin, California, Maryland, Colorado, and Michigan. The family then moved to Rockford, Illinois for six years before moving to a farm in rural South Beloit, Illinois. Once their children were grown, Orv and Jeanne returned to Rockford for the remainder of Jeanne’s life. Jeanne was an active church member throughout her life, willingly helping out in whatever capacity she was needed. Her interests and hobbies included sewing, upholstering furniture, decorating cakes, making ceramic decorations, making stained glass art pieces, doing needlepoint, and making jewelry. She enjoyed traveling, both domestically and abroad. Jeanne enjoyed playing family games; and participated in league bowling as well as playing Mah Jong with a group for many years.

Jeanne was devoted to her family, helping her children in anything they attempted, as well as caring for her widowed mother Vera and disabled sister Julie throughout their lives.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Jeanne’s life on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Christ United Methodist Church, 4509 Highcrest Rd, Rockford, Illinois 61107. Reception to follow.
