Jean Marie Dunlap

Jean M. Dunlap of Rockford passed away on January 2, 2025 after a short illness.  Born on January 26, 1931 in Waupun, Wisconsin, the daughter of Bernice L. Hill and Leon J. Secard.   She married Richard L. Dunlap, her "Gentle Giant", on July 31, 1954.  She graduated from West High School and Rockford College (University) with a degree in Medical Technology.  She worked at Rockford Hospital and Rockford Clinic.  She obtained her real estate license in 1981 and embraced a lengthy real estate career. 

After her retirement, she enjoyed being a tutor for the Rockford Literacy Council - " I Read Program".  To follow her love of gardening, she enjoyed her status as a Master Gardener.   Through her entire life, she always challenged herself to grow and learn with her love of art.  She made beautiful gourds by painting and carving them, basket weaving, painting, needlepoint and wreath making. 

She leaves behind her sons, Dirk of Rockford, IL and Kurt (Julie) Dunlap of Rockton, IL; brother, Donald Secard; nieces, Amy Meland, Julie Hoffman, and Cathy Dunlap; nephews, Clark Secard and Brian Hirtz; and special friends Ruth, Sue and the Ogrens. 

The family would like to thank Wesley Willows and Heartland Hospice for the care and compassion they have shown.

Per Jean's wishes, there will not be a service.
