Jamie Evans Obituary

Jamie N. Evans (Ray), aged 47, of South Beloit, IL, passed away on Friday, December 8, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was a 1994 graduate of Byron High School and received her BS from Kaplan University. Jamie joined the police force as an officer for the Roscoe Police Department in 1998 and advanced within the field, landing her a position as the first female Chief of Police in Winnebago County. Under her leadership, the Roscoe PD earned its accreditation through the Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Program. The building has since been named the “Jamie Ray-Evans Public Safety Building” in her honor.

Jamie devoted her time and talents to the many causes near and dear to her. She taught mental health first-aid to first responders in the Stateline area and raised funds in support of the Tommy Corral Memorial Foundation as well as cancer awareness organizations. She enjoyed horseback riding and spending her free-time at BraveHearts Therapeutic Riding and Educational Center. Jamie loved all holidays, chocolate cake with real icing, watching movies and listening to music from the 80’s, and being outdoors.

Jamie is survived by her husband, Brian; daughter, Kaitlyn; parents, Jim and Linda Ray; and sister, Lori (Troy) Carlson.
