James "Mike" M. Parrott, Jr.

James "Mike" Mitchell Parrott, Jr. answered the call to go home to join his heavenly family on June 16, 2025, at 3:58 am. Meeting him with open arms are his wife of 65 years, Marion J. (Barlow) Parrott; his children, Pamela Mittlesteadt Parrott and Michael William Parrott, saying so long for now to his remaining daughters, Marcia E. Parrott and Paula Richardson Walker.

Mike was blessed with four brothers and sisters, Ruth, Dave, Dick and Hazel; wonderful sister and brothers-in-law; countless nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Tia, Maggie, Kelly, and Jessi; eight great-grandchildren; four strong and loving grandsons-in-law; and one very kind and loving granddaughter-in-law, all of whom he loved with a quiet passion. Mike also enjoyed many honorary son and daughters over the years which only added to his joy of parenting.

He was a simple man from Soddy Daisy, Tennessee. He had humble beginnings and went on to protect his country in the Korean Conflict as a proud member of the United States Army. It was with that same pride that he was employed by the Rockford Register Star/Gannett for 38 years as a plate maker and color engraver.  Mike was a die-hard Cubbies fan who understood the game of baseball as well as life, better than most.

His gentle ways and unspoken words shall remain in the hearts and minds of all who were lucky enough to have known and loved him. So long for now daddy, it has been my honor.
