James "Jimmy" Boyle Obituary

With hearts full of love and sorrow, we share that our one-of-a-kind dad, James “Jimmy” Boyle, went home to be with the Lord on July 16, 2025.

To know Jimmy was to love him. He had an infectious smile, rosy red cheeks, and a generous heart that touched everyone he met. A proud graduate of Jefferson High School (Class of 1984), Jimmy was a lifelong salesman and most recently served as the Sales Manager at Forest City Motor since the beginning of 2025 — a role he truly loved and thrived in.

Jimmy was passionate about DA BEARS, the Cubs, and hitting the open road in his Jeep with the top and doors off, music playing, and the wind in his hair. He loved nothing more than being surrounded by his children and grandchildren, who were his greatest joy. His faith was central to his life — he loved God with all his heart and found spiritual connection at Forest City Church.

Jimmy also cherished the friendships he built over the years, whether through work, church, or time spent with good company at his favorite neighborhood spots. He was the kind of man who’d give you the shirt off his back and still flash that big grin while doing it.

Jimmy’s greatest legacy lives on through his children: Kristian (Brandon) Wanland, Aerial Boyle (Marshall Paul), Zakary Boyle (Brandon Black), and Jacob Boyle (Liz Tanner); and through his beloved grandchildren: Bentley Wanland, Briella Wanland, and Paislee Boyle, who lit up his life.

He is also survived by his dear sisters, Michelle (Curt) Holm, Judy (Steve) Carter, and Trina Davis; and his brothers, Donald Ulery and William (Beth) Boyle. Jimmy had a special bond with many in his extended family, especially his nephews, Jon Sutherland and Charles (Janice) Sutherland, who held a unique and cherished place in his heart. He is also survived by many cousins, all of whom he loved and who will miss him deeply.

Jimmy is now reunited with loved ones who passed before him, including his parents, Luther and Barbara Barber; his brothers, Daniel Ulery and Randy Ulery; his cousin and best friend, Rulen Wigtion — whose friendship was more like brotherhood — and his dear cousin, Darlene  Hensley.

A Funeral Service to honor and celebrate Jimmy’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory – Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Rd., Loves Park, IL 61111, at 12:00 PM, with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM until the time of service. There will be a luncheon held after the funeral service at 2:00 PM, at Neighbors Bar and Grill, 7745 Forest Hills Rd., Loves Park, IL 61111.

Jimmy’s passing was sudden and deeply heartbreaking for all who knew and loved him. He will be profoundly missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23
