James “Jamie” Robert Legg, 41, of Rockford, closed his eyes for the last time on May 9, 2025. Born on April 21, 1984, Jamie lived a life filled with love, laughter, and deep passion for his family and friends. James met the love of his life, Corissa, on Match.com. The two were married on May 9, 2015, in Loves Park, and just celebrated ten beautiful years of marriage.
James was a proud graduate of the University of Florida, earning his Bachelor’s degree in December 2021, followed by a Master’s degree more recently, an accomplishment he was very proud of. He worked as a Human Resources Specialist at Home Depot, where he formed lasting friendships and found purpose in helping others grow and succeed for the last 15 years.
James had a wide array of passions. He enjoyed fishing, board games, was a podcaster, and a fan of professional wrestling. He also cherished collecting memorabilia and had an unwavering passion for the Florida Gators. His enthusiasm was infectious to all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Cori; his daughter, Saylor; his parents, Robert (Faunne) Legg and Betsy Henning; and his chosen brothers: Aaron (Alison) Teboda, Sean (Jen) Steder, Randy (Melissa) Neuman, and Matthew (Alyssa) Zabel. He also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his four-legged boy, Deke.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, in Honquest Family Funeral Homes with Crematory–Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Rd., Loves Park.
