James F. Ridings

James F. Ridings, 84, of Loves Park passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Thursday, June 2, 2022. He was born on September 17, 1937, in Hollis, North Carolina. The son of Thomas and Omie Ridings; married Jimmie Fay Britton on June 12, 1976.

He was employed for 20 years at Amerock Manufacturing as a maintenance man. He then went on to own his own business; Jim’s Electric and Plumbing for over 20 years. Above all, his favorite job was being Grandpa and Pawpaw to all of his grandbabies.

James enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He was a born-again Christian at New Crossroads Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include wife, Jimmie Fay Ridings; daughters, Sheila (Greg) Peck, Mary Linda Kennedy, Pamela (Scott) Pool, Paula (Clayton) Waddle, Rena Denise Chairez; grandchildren, Melissa Kohl, Alan Rodriguez, Chase Kennedy, Elisa Rose, Tina Rudis, Bryce Kennedy, Danielle Marino, Gregory Peck, Michelle Peck, Jeffrey Watson, Natisha Watson; many great grandchildren; siblings, Alice Ruth McDowell, Fay Koslaski, Louise Huey, Carolyn Blackwell, Shirley Herron, J.W. Ridings and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by parents, Omie Ridings and Thomas Ridings and brother, William Ridings.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 8, 2022 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory – Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Rd. Loves Park, IL with a visitation from 10:00 AM until time of service. Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens, 8800 N. Alpine Road Machesney Park, IL.
