James Morrow Obituary

James Anthony Morrow, 77, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, in his Machesney Park home surrounded by the love of all of his children after a courageous journey with cancer. Jim was born on September 6, 1948, to James and LaVerne (Johnson) Morrow in Dearborn, MI. He graduated from William Henry Harrison High School in 1967. Jim went on to become a dedicated assembler at the Chrysler plant in Belvidere for 30 years.

Jim was a devoted family man who built a beautiful, blended family through his two marriages. He married his first wife, Vickie Jones, in 1969. Together they had two children, a son, James and a daughter, Valerie. He later met and married the love of his life, Charlotte Cox, in 1980 who came with a bonus daughter, Roxanna. Together Jim and Charlotte had two daughters, Jamie and Yolanda. They shared 35 years of marriage.

Jim was a faithful and loyal man who loved God, his family, friends, cheesy comedies, and the simple joys of life. He was known for his bright smile, goofy sense of humor, strong work ethic, and generous heart. He enjoyed volunteering, gardening, playing basketball, ping pong, and chess. Jim spent most of his time serving as a Jehovah’s Witness for fifty years. He pursued a life of moral integrity and made God the center of his life.

Jim is survived by his five children: Jim (Meg) Morrow of Machesney Park, IL, Valerie (Clay) Frazer of Deerfield, WI, Roxanne (Bill) Mohr of Rockford, IL, Jamie Morrow (Rob Brenka) of North Aurora, IL, and Yolanda (Andy) Matthews of Loves Park, IL; his two brothers: Blaine (Linda) Morrow of San Diego, CA and Greg (Lorraine) Morrow of Ammon, Idaho; his 10 grandchildren: Julia (Evan) Telle, Gavin Morrow, Hayden and Avery Frazer, Destiny (Ethan Webb) and Stormy (Peter Talley) Mohr, Christopher Frazier, Kayle (Sam) Todd, Olivia and Logan Matthews; his five great-grandchildren: Duncan and Marley Webb, Wyatt Talley, Wilson and Emily Todd; and his dog, Lulu.  In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Morrow.
