Irene Hendrickson

Hazel Irene Hendrickson, 80, of Rockford, IL passed away on Thursday, November 18, 2021. Born in Ripley, Missouri, the daughter of Arthur E. Frazier and Bertha I. Shickles. She married Harry “Bud” G. Hendrickson Sr. on August 7, 1967. They shared 51 years of marriage together, plus the time they knew each other and dated before marriage. His parents were, Lillian Hain and Harry W. Hendrickson. Bud and Irene owned Pete and Bud's Bar. During daytime the bar was known for only soap operas, after those shows were over then sports and news would be turned on, it made the newspaper. They also worked at Town Hall Bar, where Dad was Head Bartender and Mom was head waitress when this bar first opened. She also owned Granny’s Nook and Property Service. Irene was more of a stay at home mom, while dad was a truck driver, she sold Tupperware and Avon. She received her GED through Rock Valley College in Rockford, IL. She also was a CNA. Irene worked at Buddy Squirrel at Cherryvale Mall. After that, she had a home daycare named Tiny Tot Daycare. She had this daycare for multiple years. Irene loved to camp, sew, bowl, play card games, crime shows, true stories, family time and most of all loved babies. Her and Granny also made beautiful handmade quilts. They both won awards and contests for these. She didn’t really care what others would think about and just simply did what she wanted and when. She was bold and blunt in a kind loving way. Irene had a heart of gold. She loved playing tricks and jokes on family. She loved decorating for Christmas and Halloween. She decorated outside for Christmas and made the news for this and the radio news. She had a beautiful smile, loves, hugs and fall time.

Predeceased by Harry G. Sr. “Bud”, Harry G. Jr. “Buddy” and Stan L. Smith. Survived by children, Shane (DeAnn), Guy, Dawn (Mike); brother, William A. Frazier “Uncle Bill”; daughters-in-law, Becky, Cindy; grandchildren, Bryce (Paulene), Bryant, Harry (Missy), Mike (Tasha), Cory (Bryanna), GuyⅡ, Joseph, Jamie (Tore), Karianne (Tim), Cassie (Jakari), Johnny (Brittny) Skyann (Alex), AJ, Xander; great grandchildren, Branden (Lizzy), Owen, Autumn, Jax, Elissa, Harry Jr V, Alexis, CoryJr., Delilah, Todd, Mikey Jr., Raven, Jakari Jr., Kinslie, Toreaun Jr., Treyvion, Jayvion, Jamarion, Troy Jr., Tanner, Lauren, Olvia, Katherine. 

Visitation will be held at 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm Wednesday, November 24, 2021 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory - Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Road, Loves Park. Private burial in Cedar Bluff Cemetery.
