Howard "Mac" B. McCracken

Howard B. McCracken, 89, of Belvidere, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025. He was born August 13, 1935 in Franklin Grove, IL, the son of Byron and Hertha (Yocum) McCracken. He graduated from Ashton High School and Northrup University. He served in the United States Navy from 1953–1958 in aviation. He married Carol Schneider on July 12, 1959.

Mac worked as a aircraft maintenance technician for United Airlines for 37 years. His main hobby was doing stained glass and he enjoyed going to Oshkosh Air Adventure.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; children, Vickie (Jim) Simpson, Michael (Kathy), Kevin (Helen), Shawn, Brian and Darrin; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; one brother; and numerous other family and friends. Predeceased by his parents; two sisters; and a brother.
