Henry "Hank" Armand Torgeson, Sr., 92, of Machesney Park passed away peacefully in his home on May 20, 2025. He was born on January 22, 1933 in Chicago, IL to Ralph and Armanelly (Lindsay) Torgeson. He served in the Navy in the Korean War as Ship Electrician, earning medals for National Defense, Good Conduct, Korean Service and United Nations. As a young man, Hank was a businessman co-owning a gas station with his brother Ralph in the late 50's. In the early 70's, he also co-owned the Village Inn in Forreston, Illinois, and Dodge Inn in Byron. His primary career was working as an electrician for Illinois Bell for 25 years. He retired at 52 years young and enjoyed a 40 year retirement traveling and spending time with his family and friends. He was an active member with the American Legion, VFW and LLL Club and enjoyed spending his time with friends and family, volunteering and supporting his clubs. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, leather crafting and coin collecting.
We would like to thank the whole extended family for their love and support during Hank's later years. He was very lucky to have so many friends and family that loved and cared for him.
Survived by his children, Henry Torgeson, Jr., Cynthia Standish and Michelle (Ken) Lonergan; grandchildren, Scott Torgeson, Jr,, Samantha Swimelar, Jeremy Torgeson, Sean Torgeson, Nataleigh Torgeson, Brittney Stanley, Michael Standish and Ainsley Lonergan; great-grandchildren, Julianna Torgeson, Brianna Torgeson Jeffrey Rehm, Ada Stanley and Forest Adelmeyer; siblings, Nancy (Lowell) Naber and Linda (Fred) Meyer; and sister-in-law, Donna (Dick) Heerdt. Predeceased by his parents, Ralph Torgeson and Armanelly Lindsay; siblings, Barbara Kelly, Ralph Torgeson, Jr. and Roger (Nola) Torgeson.
Memorial service will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 in Honquest Family Funeral Homes with Crematory - Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Rd., Loves Park, IL 61111, with a memorial visitation from 12:00 PM until the time of the service.
