Helena R. Montana

Helena R. Montana, 64, of Rockford, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2023.  She was born May 17, 1959, to her parents, Romuald Tomaszewski and Hedwig Wenz. Helena attended St. Gregory High School in Chicago, IL and graduated in 1977.

Helena married the love of her life, Thomas G. Montana in Chicago, IL on August 1, 1981. She served in the United States Marine Corps as a Sergeant (E-5) from 1977 - 1989. She took pride in being a woman and serving her country. After the Marines, Helena went on to work for the Rockford Fire Department as a Senior Clerk for 26 years. 

In Helena's down time she enjoyed many things from reading, watching movies, shopping, and drinking coffee. She would always make time to attend prayer groups as her faith was very important to her. Above all else, she loved spending quality time with her family and her dogs. 

Survived by her children, Catherine Montana, Elisabeth (Jeffrey) Skonecki, Mark Montana, Lynn (David) Frederick and Tom (Glenna) Montana, Jr.; grandchildren, Jocelyn, Noah, Tobias, Beatrice, and Madeline.

Preceded in death by her husband, Thomas G. Montana; parents, Romuald and Hedwig Tomaszewski; siblings, Ramona and Marian Tomaszewski.

Funeral service will be at 4:00pm with a visitation from 3:00pm until the service on Sunday, September 17, 2023 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory-Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Road, Loves Park, IL 61111.
