Helen L. Burns

Helen L. Burns, 85, of Loves Park, went to be with her Lord and Savior February 21, 2025. Born in Wilson, Arkansas on May 24, 1939, the daughter of Robert M. and Eliza A. (Yates) Keen. She was a graduate of East High School in Rockford. She married L.C. Burns in October 1969; they were married for 56 years. Helen worked for Weyerhaeuser Container for over 30 years as a machine operator. She loved making crafts and going to craft shows. She loved her jolly 60's group that met weekly and enjoyed lunch dates with her husband at the river near Martin Park. Helen spent the winters in Arizona visiting with her niece, Janet Johnson. She also enjoyed being a greeter at North Love Baptist Church for many years. 

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, L.C. Burns; children, Patty Shaner (Dean) and Steven H. Stone (Jill); grandchildren, Ashley M. Stone, Amber N. Stone (Suhas), Steven S. Stone (Shannon), AJ Shaner (Jessica), Andrew D. Shaner, Greg J. Shaner and Amanda R. Etienne; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, Art W. Keen and Charles Keen; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Evelyn Hendry and Patty Keen. Predeceased by her parents, Robert and Eliza Keen; and brothers, Gerald, Wilford, Robert, Jr., Wayne and Paul Keen. 

Funeral service will be at 12:00 PM on Monday, March 3, 2025 in Honquest Family Funeral Homes with Crematory - Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Rd., Loves Park. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
