Gordon D. Justice, Sr., of Rockford, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 14, 2026, with his children by his side. He was born in Rockford on April 24, 1937, to George and Florence Justice, and married Julie Lewis in 1957.
Gordon enlisted in the Marines in 1954. Coming out of the service, he was employed at Barber Colman. He continued his career at Sundstrand as a manufacturing engineer. After retirement, he consulted for Sundstrand and Hennig, Inc. Gordon was a proud member of the American Legion Family Post #332 for over 20 years. He was Commander not once but four separate times. He also served as the Rifle Squad Commander for ten years.
Gordon was an amazing husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was a train enthusiast, loved woodworking, loved to fly planes, and always supported his kids and grandkids at their sporting activities.
Gordon is survived by his children, Beckie (Lonny) Saulsbury, Jodie (John) Gray, Gordon (Marilyn) Justice Jr., Sharon Justice, and Susan (Ortie) Justice-Jones; grandchildren, Jamie (Jen) Musick, Nikki (Will II) Kerr, Michael Gray, Ashlie (Mikey) Rush, Linzie Justice, Jossilyn (Nicholas) Mladenoff, Cassidy Rae (Emily) Jones and Aidan Jones; great-grandchildren, Kristen, Kenidie, and Kooper Musick, William III, Nicholas, and Maddox Kerr, Lincoln, Rylie and Mallorie Rush, Temperance Jones and Nico Mladenoff; great-great-grandchildren, Oliver Haas and Kayson Musick; sister-in-law, Merry (Vince Leoni) Richey. Predeceased by his parents, George and Florence Justice; his sister, Georgetta Oellig, and his wife, Julie Justice.
Celebration of life will be held at the Rockton American Legion, 221 W. Main Street, Rockton, IL 61072, from 2:00pm to 6:00pm on Sunday, March 22, 2026. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Gordon’s name to the Rockton American Legion.
