Gerald L. McKenna

Gerald (Gary) L. McKenna, 76, of Loves Park, passed away after a long illness. God welcomed Gary home on January 1, 2022, he was born January 16, 1945, son of Ancil and Dorothy (Philippi) McKenna in Scotland, South Dakota.  

A Harlem High School graduate, Gary spent most of his career in the lift truck business, retiring from Woodward Governor in 2010. He enjoyed fishing, reading, good music, making candles, doing puzzles and hanging out with his great granddaughter; and best friend, Kiya.  More than anything, Gary loved spending time with his family and he looked forward to Pizza Fridays every week.  Our “Pops” had a great sense of humor and was a loving dad, grandpa and great grandpa, we sure are going to miss him.  

Gary is survived by his children; Kelly (Bill) Duncan, Rob McKenna, grandchildren, Jorrie (Doug) Epperson, Kenna (Nick) Stromquist, Kassidy and Jake McKenna, and great granddaughters; Kiya and Josie Epperson, sisters; Kay (Lyle) Sundly and Kathy Pond, long time friend; Bob, and his little dog Steve. Predeceased by his parents and sister; Karen Stewart.
