Gary D. Rice

Gary D. Rice, 73, of Rockford, went to be with the Lord on September 23, 2024. Born in Rockford to LeRoy and Carole (Vickery) Rice on November 21, 1950.  He attended Stillman Valley High School and Rock Valley College. He was a Vietnam Veteran who served in the Army. He married Kimberly Dockins on May 14, 1993 at North Towne Baptist Church in Rockford, IL, where they met. He worked most of his life as a machinist at various machine shops in the Rockford area. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, riding motorcycles, woodworking, spending time with his friends, and working with the youth at Forest Hills Evangelical Free Church.

Gary is survived by his wife, Kimberly; son, Robert (Katrina) Rice; daughter, Janelle (Jerry) Stubbs; grandson, Robert Rice, Jr; granddaughters, Jazmen Rice, Keira Jackson and Awbry Jackson; sisters, Shari Reagan, Vicki Rippentrop, Lori Rice and Michelle (Mike) Smith; brothers, Craig (Bonnie) Rice, Patrick Rice and Paul Lindquist; several nieces and nephews; and special friends; Darrell Harms and Kim Presley. Gary is predeceased by his parents; step-father, Andre Lindquist; wife, Mary Rice; brothers, Steve Rice and John Rice; nephews, Craig Rice, Jr. and Paul Lindquist, Jr.; and niece, Tracy Rice.

A Celebration of Life will be held at VFW Post 9759, 2018 Windsor Rd., Loves Park, IL 61111 on Saturday, November 30, 2024 from 12:00 noon to 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation in Gary’s name to the Rockford Rescue Mission.
