Gary Beadle, 83, of Rockford, IL, passed away on November 13, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with multiple myeloma. He was born on August 10, 1942, the son of Ovel and Violet Beadle, and was raised and educated in Rockford. On December 3, 1960, Gary married the love of his life, Irene Carlson, in Rockford. They shared nearly 65 years together, missing their anniversary by only 20 days.
Gary worked as a machinist for Greenlee Brothers for 24 years, remaining there until the closing of the 12th Street plant. He was an active member of the company baseball team, pool league, and bowling team. After Greenlee closed, he continued his career at several local machine shops until retiring at age 65. A lifelong pool player, Gary loved the game and continued playing for as long as he was able. He also had a deep passion for fishing. After purchasing property along the Kishwaukee River, he and Irene built a home there - a place he cherished for the easy access to the river and the peaceful hours spent fishing.
One of the greatest joys of Gary’s later years was the family’s little poodle, Minnee, whose playful spirit brought laughter, comfort, and many smiles during his final year.
Gary is survived by his wife; his children, Jeffery (Betty Perkins) Beadle and Lisa Holder; grandchildren, Jared Niffenegger and Jorden (Curista Tighe) Niffenegger; and great-granddaughter, Macy Jae Niffenegger (a deeply loved little girl who is growing into a beautiful young lady). He is also survived by his sister, Myrtle Williams; his brothers, Charles (Kathie) Williams, David Williams, and Robert Williams; his brother-in-law, Jesse Beaman; and countless nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Billy Beadle; his sisters, Shirley Shreve, Joyce Beaman, Louise Bowers, and Barbara Beadle; and his brothers-in-law, Chuck Shreve and Ron Bower.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to Heartland Hospice. Special thanks go to Dr. Lynda Razbadauski for her many years of devoted care. Dr. Raz is truly the best, and Gary held a deep affection for her.
