Gene “Geno” Pepsnik, 71, of Machesney Park, Illinois, passed away on June 1, 2026. He was born on March 3, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois, to Bruno and Estelle (Majchrowicz) Pepsnik.
Geno attended St. Patrick High School in Chicago and later continued his education at St. Norbert College in Wisconsin. Throughout his career, he worked in the printing industry and also held positions in accounting and sales before retiring.
A devoted Chicago sports fan, Geno faithfully followed the Blackhawks, Bears, and Cubs. He also enjoyed spending time on the golf course and fishing whenever he had the opportunity. His passion for sports, love of the outdoors, and easygoing nature will be fondly remembered by those who knew and loved him.
Geno is survived by his son, Phillip Pepsnik; sister, Cinde Klunder; brother, Norb (Patty) Pepsnik; nephews, Keith (Lynn) Klunder and Brian Klunder; great-nieces, Katelynn Klunder, Sarah Klunder, and Lindsey Klunder. Predeceased by his former wife, Jean Pepsnik; his parents, Bruno and Estelle Pepsnik; and brother-in-law, Pat Klunder.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, June 27th, 2026, at Honquest Family Funeral Home – Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Rd. Loves Park, IL, 61111, from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM.
