Erwin O. Kunde

Erwin (Jerry) O. Kunde, age 80, passed away Monday, November 13, 2023 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. He is survived by his beloved wife Diane, who he was married to for 59 years. He is also survived by his son, John Kunde, his daughter, Brenda Kunde and his son, Michael (Anna) Kunde. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Nichole, Michael Jr., Andrew and Noah; his great-grandchildren, Jaksyn, Theodore, Scarlett and Summer; step grandchildren, Alisia, Matthew, and Anthony; nieces, Laura, Linda, Margaret; nephew, James; and his step sister, Virginia. Erwin was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Erna; brothers, Herbert and Fred and sister, Margaret. Erwin was born in Repkov, Germany, moved to Freising, Germany after WWII, and then to Hammond Indiana in 1952 with his family. He graduated from Hammond High School in 1962 and joined the Air Force for four years. He married his wife Diane of Richland Center, WI on July 11, 1964. Much of his life was spent in McFarland, WI where he raised his family and made many close friends.
 

He held a variety of jobs over his career, in many cases two jobs to support his family. Notable companies Erwin worked for included Madison Kipp in Madison, WI, Top Die in Roscoe, IL, GE Aviation in Loves Park, IL and Fairbanks Morris in Beloit, WI. Erwin worked in quality control in many of his roles and enjoyed traveling as a supplier quality engineer. Erwin enjoyed working in the yard, gardening, grilling and spending time with his friends and family.
 

Funeral Mass will be held Friday, November 17, 2023 at 11:00AM at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Avenue, Loves Park, IL. Visitation will be from 9:30AM to 11:00AM. Lunch will be served in the St. Bridget Parish Center after the funeral Mass.
