Ellen “Ellie” Rukin, 78, of Belvidere, IL passed away Thursday, February 6, 2020. Born July 16, 1941 in Chicago to Charles and Saranna (Klotz) Brown. Ellie was employed as a professional singer and model for many years. Her favorite job was being a mother and grandmother. Ellie loved to play scrabble. She was known for her quick wit. Ellie loved to sing karaoke and belonged to a karaoke group that met every Tuesday night. For several years in the 90’s, Ellie, produced and hosted "Grace to you” which aired on a local cable TV channel, where she happily shared the good news of Jesus with her viewing audience. She loved the outdoors and nature, especially going on walks. Ellie lived and enjoyed the outdoors and beautiful scenery in Washington state, near her daughter Ivy which she loved so very much for 20 years before moving back to Illinois in 2015. Some other interests Ellie enjoyed were watching Dr. Phil and Wheel of Fortune.
Survivors include children, Dani Rukin, Ivy Rukin, Eric (Caroline) Rukin; grandchildren, Abraham Rukin, Jesse Rukin, Jubilee Rukin, Isaac Rukin, Samuel Rukin, Naomi Rukin; and brothers, Jimmy Brown and Scott Brown. Predeceased by parents; grandmother, Rose Klotz; and several aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 22, 2020 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory - Roscoe Chapel, 11342 Main Street, Roscoe with a service to follow starting at 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions can be made to Mercy Ships. www.mercyships.org
