Ella M. McGuire

Ella M. McGuire, 89, of Roscoe, passed away peacefully at home on September 30, 2024 in the presence of family. Ella was born May 2, 1935 in Louisville, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Francis and Henning Bjorklund. At the age of three, Ella's family relocated to Beloit, WI where she attended Beloit Memorial High School and met the love of her life, Edward McGuire. Ella and Ed were married in 1952 and leave behind an incredible legacy of 72 years of marriage and many incredible memories.

Ella remained a resident of the Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois area. There, she and Ed raised their family of five sons, Michael, Lawrence, Daniel, Anthony and Thomas, along with 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Ella grew up alongside three sisters, Alice, Frances (Toots) and Marrel; and brother, Olaf.  She was predeceased by her sons, Lawrence and Anthony; grandson,  Austin; as well as her parents, and sisters, Frances (Toots) and Alice.

Ella's primary focus was her family; she dedicated her love, care, and heart to being an exemplary wife and mother. She will be lovingly remembered for being passionate on her views, a thoughtful listener, and a woman with a huge heart for family. Ella was also a strong advocate for animal welfare and the plight of animals in need of rescue. Through Ella's life, many dogs and cats became family members and certainly welcomed her at the "Rainbow Bridge" as she made her way home recently.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Pastor Dan Herman of First Congregational Church in Beloit, WI, the staff of Mercy Hospital and Van Matre Rehabilitation, as well as Hospice.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Hononegah Park in Rockton, IL.  In lieu of flowers, donations to animal welfare/rescue foundations are appreciated.
