Edwin J. Harper, 73, of South Beloit passed away on September 23, 2024 after short illness. He was born on November 17, 1950, the son of Edwin and Vera Rose Harper. He graduated from Hononegah High School. Ed worked at Regal Beloit, eventually becoming the first employee of North American Tool as a mechanic/machinist. He then moved on to Rockford Spring and drove a semi before retiring. Ed enjoyed tinkering with anything mechanical, rebuilding garden tractors, rocking chairs and various projects around the garage. He had a vast classic old country doo-wop music library ranging from the 1930’s to the 1970’s.
Survivors include daughters, Denise (Paul) Stewart and Kelly (Angel Carlos) Reyes; sons, Chad (Dawn) Harper and Ejay (Jody) Harper; grandchildren, Ashley, Charlie, Brisa, Raider, Zachary, Emily, Damion, and Shayla; great-grandchildren, Souren, Indra, Harmony, Phoenix, Felicity and Linkoln; sisters, Edna (Larry) Bond, Mary-Ann Stewart, Winnie, Bea Dunham, Reba (Steve) Mineff, Linda (Carl) Radke and Vera (Jim) Lutz; brothers, Clarence (Sebrena) Harper and Bud (Wanda) Harper; his two dogs, Bertha and Tubby; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents, Edwin and Vera Rose; wife, Deb Harper; brother, Doyle “Lucky” Harper and brothers-in-law, Jim Stewart, John Dunham and Don.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory-Roscoe Chapel, 11342 Main St., Roscoe.
