It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved uncle, brother, and friend, Dwight L. Anderson, He entered into eternal rest on January 17, 2025 at the age of 80. He was born on May 24, 1944 in Dodgeville, WI. Dwight was a light in the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. A cherished son to Edgar and Violet Anderson, he grew up surrounded by a family that adored him and from an early age, showed the qualities of kindness and humor with a free spirit and a zest for life.
Following high school, Dwight entered into the United States Navy, serving October 1961 through April 1964 and was stationed on the USS Saratoga. He then transferred to the Navy Reserve and returned home to Rockford, IL, starting a career as a machinist with National Lock. He left for a bit of adventure heading to Dodgeville, WI to work for his sister and brother-in-law at their cheese factory. Dwight received the love and attention of four older siblings. He had a heart full of love for them and enjoyed regular conversations and visits with them. His presence in their lives and their families was a gift that will be greatly missed.
As an uncle, Dwight was unparalleled. His nieces and nephews looked up to him with admiration, always excited to spend time with him, laugh with him, and enjoy his story-telling nature. He will be remembered for his support and guidance and his special way of making every moment memorable, especially his boyish grin when sharing a story. His presence was always a source of comfort and happiness and Dwight’s memory will live on in their hearts forever.
Dwight was a magnet to friendship and spent part of most days sharing friendship, coffee or tea with his friends at Robin’s Nest, or with his friends in the Rockford Watch Club. He was a friend to neighbors and maintained many friendships that spanned years and decades from work relationships and childhood friends. Those who knew him were blessed to call him a friend and fortunate to carry treasured memories of him in their hearts.
He had a great sense of adventure and enjoyed concerts, car shows, festivals and travelling with his many friends and family members.
